The sky is red tonight. Arsene Wenger’s side – Arsenal FC have won the English FA Cup for the third time in four seasons. The Gunners defeated 2017 English Premier League champions – Chelsea FC in a pulsating encounter in which the Arsenal team was comfortable throughout the duration of the game.
The game played in Wembley was action-packed from start to finsih as Arsenal were more comfirtable on the ball than the newly crowned EPL champions. Alexis Sanchez gave Arsenal the lead with a low finish to the right after seeming to have controlled the ball with his hands following a Kante clearance. The flag was raised initially but the referee after consuktation with his assistant, awarded the goal in Arsenal’s favour.

From then on, the gunners had a better grip on the game but Chelsea FC slowly grew into it.
Chelsea FC came out stronger in the second half and seemed to have the game by the scruf of the nexck as they chased an equaliser. The men from the Emirate Stadium though, were dangerous on the counter and almost made Chelsea pay.
In the 68th minute, Nigerian International – Victor Moses was sent off for a second bookable offence after having fallen without contact in Arsenal’s area. Arsenal were given a free kick and Moses was duly sent off.
It looked as though Arsenal will be on a roller coaster with a man advantage but Chelsea equalized through Diego Costa and in the euphoria of their celebration, they allowed Asron Ramsey of Arsenal to score a free header barely one minute after leveling matters.
Antonio Conte’s men sent in Michy Batshuayi and Willian in a bid to darw the game into extra time but Arsene Wenger’s men were not to be denied their third FA up in four years.
The major drawback though is one or two questionable calls by the referee which will be the topic of discussion in the coming days. That should not take anything away from Arsenal FC as they outplayed Chelsea in all departments.
Congrats Arsenal Football Club.
