Croatian international Mario Mandzukic has been rewarded with a new contract by the Italian outfit. The old lady extended Mandzukic’s contract till 2020 on the back of his rich vein of form which saw him score 10 goals and make 8 assists in 48 games. He also has a Champions League final to look forward to on June 3rd.
The 31-year-old Croat has basically been a part of Juve’s furniture this season as he has been integral to their double win in the league and the Italian Cup.
A Juventus source was quick to highlight his qualities when it said Mario Mandzukic can be described as:
“Strong, generous, stubborn, not willing to give one inch to the opponent until the last second of the match… it’s the mantra of Mario Mandzukic. The striker — who with his technique, his experience, and his immense self-sacrifice has had a fundamental role since summer 2015 to the present — has helped to get Juventus a third double Scudetto-Coppa Italia in a row, as well as the Champions League final in Cardiff this year.”
This is generous praise for a player from the old lady as Juventus is fondly called, and Mario whose initial contract is due to run out in 2o19 has a one-year extension added to keep him for an extra season.
It will be recalled that Mario Mandzukic joined the Italian champions in 2015 from Athletico Madrid for 19 million Euros after having spent a season with the Spanish capital side.
This is a great one for the Croatian striker.
